3rd Quarter Awards

I'm proud to share that both of my big boys received another Gold Card at the 3rd quarter Renaissance Assembly!  Not only are they good little athletes, but are awesome students too!!

School District Wrestling Tournament

Both Tucker and Trey participated in the school district wrestling camp and tournament!  I was so proud of Trey for getting out there and doing his best.  He ended up taking 2nd place (but honestly the kid he lost to I really do not think that he lost the both were wearing pretty much exactly the same thing and they had the same hair color, so I'm pretty sure they got the points wrong a couple of times...but whatever...I just had to throw that out there ;) But Trey did great, his biggest thing was if the other kid was getting up, he would just let go and start over, so he gave up a lot of points that way, but other than that, he did awesome!  Tucker, did awesome and took first place for the 2nd year in a row.  It was a fun way to officially end the wrestling season for Tucker and give Trey a taste of what it is like to wrestle someone besides his brother.

State Wrestling Tounament 2013

The 1st weekend of March Tucker wrestled in the State Wrestling Tournament (Saturday was regular state and Sunday was Rookie State...1st year wrestlers only, so Tucker only wrestled Sunday....I think he would have done a great job at regular state, but nerves and emotions got the best of him).  I still (even 2 and 1/2 months later) feel like Tucker pretty much got screwed over...but sometimes in wrestling things just don't go your way.  He was so excited and pumped up, but he had to wait over 2 hours for his first match and then he ended up having to wrestle the kid who took 1st Place on Saturday in regular state...this kid was a great wrestler...there was no way in heck this was his first year wrestling, just the things this kid knew there was no possible way...but...anyways, Tucker fought hard, but those dang emotions got in the way and he ended up loosing. 

 

He handled his emotions and came back and won the next 2 matches, but then he freaked out again because he thought he was going to wrestle the first kid again, even though everyone explained to him that he would not wrestle him again, he just wouldn't listen and went into his match against another kid with the mind set he wasn't going to win...so despite his effort, he couldn't manage to pull off a win.

 

He did end up with 4th Place and despite all the crap, I am so proud of him! To say wrestling is tough is an understatement...and adding in Tucker's extreme drive to win...it was a long season for everyone emotionally!  Our club team did end up taking 1st place overall in Rookie State!!!!!

 

It's nice to have a break from wrestling, but we are already thinking of next year...where I could possibly have 3 wrestlers (Tucker and Ty want to wrestle, but Trey is still on the fence about it....I don't blame him...he knows it's going to be a lot of hard work!)

 

Tucker ended his first official season of wrestling with 18 wins and 8 loses.  He had 2 - 1st places 4 - 2nd places 1 - 3rd place and 1 - 4th place (and if you add his two school district wrestling camp tournaments, you add 4 more wins and 2 more 1st places!)  I'm so proud of him and if we can work on controlling his emotions next year he will have an even better season!

Trey's Winter Program

Trey had his school program a couple of weeks ago.  It was a winter themed program and it was super cute!  Trey is still pretty nervous about being on stage, but went up there and did a great job.  He even got to get up off the risers and show one of the skills they learned during music class.

HOLY SNOW, BATMAN!!!!

Last week we got a ton of snow!!!  It was awesome because it was wet snow, so we were able to build snowmen, snow forts, and throw some snowballs (just an FYI for those that don't know, CO has very dry powdery snow that you can't make anything with).  The snow was so plentiful that the boys even had a snow day and that never happens ( I only remember 2, maybe 3 snow days in my entire school years here)!!!  It was such a blast and we were outside for over 3 hours!  Plus the weather has stayed cold and it has even snowed another 1/2 inch or so yesterday, majority of the snow is still sticking around 5 days later which also rarely happens here!!!

Me and my Trey

Trey was invited to a little friend's birthday party this past week and he really wanted to go.  The little friend just happens to be a cute little girl and her mom works at the school with my mom and we were informed that she really wanted Trey to come and wanted to make sure Trey would come to the party, especially since the party was going to be held at Build a Bear.  Of course we made went and despite being the only boy (besides her older brother) and never actually being inside a Build a Bear workshop before Trey had a great time!  He picked out a pretty cool camo bear and it even smells like chocolate!  It was extra nice because it was just me and Trey a pretty special treat for both of us.  He loves that bear!

Wresting Tournaments 6 and 7

Wrestling is so stressful!!!  Watching it seriously stresses me out, but not because I'm worried Tucker will get hurt or not really even if he looses, but because Tucker is freaking out when he doesn't win and I don't know how much more I can take of him being so hard on himself.  I always tell him all (and what his coaches tell him too) we want him to do is wrestle hard, listen to your coaches, and never give up!  But Tucker is such a hard worker he can NOT stand to loose.  He wants to win (I mean who can blame him right....) and he does not handle loosing very well.

 

He is a really good wrestler (when he keeps his head right) and his coach decided it was time to move him up a division.  Well, little did we know he was moved from C class up to the highest class, A class.  Well, he was so nervous about the move up, but he still ended up taking 2nd place (which usually doesn't happen when a wrestler moves up 1 class, let alone 2 classes). 

 

Tournament 7 I didn't get any pictures because I have started recording them on my phone because there have been some problems with the people at the table taking score writing down the wrong names or wrong scores, so I want video proof just in case.  (I know it sounds a little crazy, but this happened to my nephew and the table scorer tried to give his 1st place win to another kid, but luckily the Ref remembered who won the matches.)  Anyways, Tucker took 2nd at this tournament too.  The match he lost was a really tough fight for him and I am proud of him for keeping himself together and fighting hard until the end.  (And blogger is still being dumb and not letting me upload any video...which sucks because I have a ton of Tucker wrestling!)

It's only been about 9 years....

On Superbowl Sunday I ran a 5k with my friend...it seriously has been about 9 years since I have ran in a race!  I have been running and working out at home a pretty decent amount for awhile now and my friend has been asking me to run in a race with her, but usually they are on Saturdays and Saturdays are always so dang busy...but this was a Sunday, so we did it!  We are actually pretty good running partners and for not seriously training for this we ended up running it in 30minutes and 52seconds.  Not too bad...it was a lot of fun and we can't wait for the next one!
