Renaissance Time Again

Yesterday was the big boys 2nd Quarter Renaissance Assembly.  It was a football themed assembly and both boys earned a gold card again!!  I'm so proud of them and their hard work!

Tucker's 3rd Grade Performance

Tucker had his 3rd grade performance a couple of weeks ago and it was all about Africa.  It was very cute and he had a lot of fun up there singing and dancing.  It was hard to get a good picture of him, but was fun watching.  His music teacher is excellent and you can really tell that she loves her job and her students.  He is lucky to have her!

Renaissance Time Again!

I'm very proud to report both of my boys earned another Renaissance card for the first quarter of school and the both earned the highest card again.  Tucker was a little worried that he wouldn't get a gold card again because 3rd grade is tough and they changed up some of the requirements and made it even tougher to earn one, but his hard work paid off and he did indeed get his Gold Card. 

 

Before the cards were given out, they passed out trophies for the kids in each grade that ran the most amount of laps during the FUNd run and Trey earned a trophy.  (It was a 3 way tie in 2nd grade!)

Trey was so excited!  This was the first trophy that he actually earned, not just given for participation, but actually earned...makes it even more special!!

Trey's 2nd Grade Program

During October Trey had his 2nd grade program.  It was so cute and all about bugs!

It still amazes me that back in preschool he wouldn't even walk up on the stage to get his diploma and now he is up there and he told me he's 'not even nervous.'

Best Fundraiser Ever!

At the boys school they only have to do 1 fundraiser for the entire year.  And it is seriously awesome!!!  They do what is called a FUNd Run.  They go around asking friends and family for pledges or donations and then one day at school they run a 1/10th of a mile track (the white line on the grass) for 15 minutes.  Parents give a kids a tally mark for every lap they run and when it is all over the kids go back to get their pledges or donations.  It is a huge deal for the kids, their class becomes a team, they create a name, and there are various competitions, like class that raised the most money, class that created the coolest name, class that ran the most laps.  Seriously Awesome! 

 

Ty and I go to do some tallies and watch Tucker and Trey run.  Tucker ran 16 laps in 15 minutes and Trey ran 17!  (I have to put out a disclaimer for Tucker's sake, Tucker ran 1st, so Trey knew how many laps he had to run to beat Tucker and he pushed himself really hard to beat him...Both my boys are fast!)  Ty actually ended up running about 8 laps, a couple with his Grandma, a couple with me, and a few on his own!

Ty's 1st day of Preschool!!!

Ty had a very big thing happen this year!  He started preschool!!  He is going part time, 2 mornings a week for 3 hours.  The first day was pretty good and then the next couple of classes he had some separation issues and then he started looking forward to going and now he is still loving it!  Usually the only thing he tells me about his day is what they had for snack, but he always loves showing me what he brings home in his folder.  He has a few good friends already, one we go to church with so we see him a lot, which Ty gets really excited about and a couple of them he played soccer with, which he thought was 'awesome'!

1st Day of School 2013-2014 School Year!

 I know I'm a little late, but at least I got this post done before the first half of the school year is over!

Tucker started 3rd grade this year and Trey started 2nd.  They were super excited about the school year and have been great students so far this year!

Last day of the 2012-2013 School Year

The last day of Tucker's 2nd grade year and Trey's 1st grade year was a pretty good day for both of them.  They each earned another Gold Card.  And of course I am so proud of them for all their hard work!

I'm proud to share that both of my big boys received another Gold Card at the 3rd quarter Renaissance Assembly!  Not only are they good little athletes, but are awesome students too!!

1st Renaissance Assembly of 2012-2013 School Year!

I am so proud of my big boys!!!  They both received cards for their good grades and behavior at school!  This was Trey's first time being eligible for a card and he got a Green one, which is the second highest card you can get!  He was pretty excited about it!  Tucker received another Gold Card, which is the highest you can get!  He was so excited because this year has been a little more challenging for him because he is in the highest reading class where a lot is expected of him, but he is working so hard at it and it paid off!!!  It was special because Grampa, Gramma, and Uncle Jake were all able to come to the assembly with Ty and I!  For their hard work we treated them out to dinner at On the Border!  I am so very proud of them and their hard work!

1st Day of School

What a difference a year makes!!!  Do you remember last year when I had to drag Trey onto the bus for majority of the year??? Yep, despite me trying to block that whole debockle from my mind...I still remember.  This year a complete 180...He was excited and eager for school to start!  Tucker was funny, he kept saying I don't want to go to school, but that morning he was running to the bus stop!  So far this year has been pretty good for both of them.  They love their teachers and are making even more friends!

How is summer almost over??

We have had a very fun and eventful summer and I cannot wrap my head around how school will be starting in less than 2 weeks!!!

Since I have been so busy and have neglected my blog, I want to take a few minutes to share my thoughts on the big boys and their school year.  These are some things I want to always remember, but I don't know if I will remember them for years to come.

I'll start with Tucker...I'm so proud of him for doing such a great job in school...academically and socially!  He really pushes himself to do the best job he can at his school work.  He cracked me up one day after school ended because his 'best' friend only got white cards for Renaissance and Tucker's exact words were "I don't know why he only gets white cards because he has such nice handwriting"  Well, see Tucker's way of thinking...he always gets 100s or 100+ on his spelling tests and on other assignments he never has gotten anything under an A grade...the only thing his teacher had to get on him about was writing neater...so he just didn't understand why his friend didn't get gold cards too when his friend's handwriting was way neater than his own....I had to explain to him that his friend might have not always gotten A's or 100's...  As I said, Tucker pushes himself so hard to get 100s...one example is that he would come home from school on Monday with his brand new spelling words and he would be so upset with himself for not knowing how to spell all the words already that first day.  I hope he has this drive forever because I would much rather have to help him understand it is okay to not be perfect all the time than having to fight him to do the best he can.   He made lots of friends and all the teachers loved him.  He says he doesn't want to go back to school, but I know secretly he does..he really loves school...2nd grade here Tucker comes!!!!

Trey....what can I say about this boy...he has grown so unbelievably much over this year.  This is the one thing I learned with Tucker also at this age....the amount they change is CRAZY... As I explained in the dinosaur program post...it wasn't the greatest year for him, but we finished the year on a very positive note.  He kept doing great and he has surprised us all by even joining the summer coach pitch baseball team and he has just started flag football!  His kindergarten teacher was amazing..she really knew how to deal with his distinct personality and I don't think I could ever let her know how grateful I am for her.  Trey is looking forward to 1st grade, especially since he will have the same teacher Tucker (and I had) for 1st grade.  I have very high hopes he will have a great year..I think Trey is looking forward to proving to Tucker he can do just as good as Tucker did in school...if not better.  Those boys are so competitive!  I'm just so proud of him for really growing up and becoming such a big boy!  Trey didn't really have a 'best' friend in class like Tucker did, but he have good things to say about all his classmates...thankfully for my mom being in the same school I found out Trey did have a 'special' friend in class...this cute little girl...which is why he probably never would have admitted it to me or anyone else for that matter...I think we have a little ladies man on our hands because in preschool his teacher always told us he was a big hit with all the girls!

Last Renaissance Assembly of the year

The last day of school Tucker has his last renaissance assembly for the year. I was so proud of him because he got another Gold Card! He also got a cool shirt because he always received one of the higher cards every quarter!  It was a cool water themed assembly, but Tucker didn't get to play one of the games because he played one last time!

My Trey really is growing up!

Oh Trey my loving yet very stubborn Trey....I seriously can't express how proud I am of him right now. A couple of weeks back Trey had his end of the year Dinosaur Program at school (The same exact program I put on in Kindergarten when I went to school there...I know...totally awesome!!!!) Anyways, for those of you who don't know Trey too well, he is stubborn...I don't even think stubborn begins to cover it, but I will just go with that for now.....and he (just like all of my boys) is very shy, I think he might be the shyest one of all. He does NOT do well in front of a crowd. In all his preschool years and the many performances, he would NEVER participate in them...we barely got him on stage to receive his Preschool Diploma..and that was all in thanks to his amazing preschool teacher! But let me tell you about this Dinosaur Program!!!!

That's right...there he is sitting up there with his class...smiling and waving at me none he less!!! (During the school year anytime I would go to school to visit Tucker or watch one of Tucker's award assemblies I would have to avoid Trey at all costs because if he would see me it would cause a major melt down...)And then to make it even better there he is singing along and even doing the motions!!!!  The song they were singing is one about a triceratops.

 And when I thought it couldn't be any better, his music teacher picked him to do the drumming for the t-rex song!!  I was fighting back tears the entire time(as I am right now as I'm writing this).  I am so very VERY proud of him.  He really is growing up! 

 

A Suessical Musical

Tucker recently had his 1st Grade musical proformance! It was a bunch of musical numbers based on Dr. Suess's books (Honoring Dr. Suess because they did it the day before his birthday. Tucker's class is wearing red..can you see him sitting there patiently waiting with his classic smile plastered on his face.All the 1st grade classes...this is the biggest class they have ever had at his school..and it is still smaller than his old class in Texas.)After the show with his egg creation.
