Spur of the moment....

So Saturday night we are just hanging out doing nothing much, just watching tv and hanging out..around 9 I was tired already and getting the boys ready for bed when Vinny comes inside from the garage and says "We should go to San Antonio, stay the night and do the river walk the next day" And of course I say "let's go!" I start packing a bag and getting the boys changed into some clothes and he comes in again(he does most of his thinking and talking on the phone in the garage) and says I need to pack some nice clothes because we are staying at a 4star hotel tonight....so ok and I do...

We finally get out of the door a little after 10 at night. The drive wasn't the best, it rained on and off the whole way and we had to take a huge detour because the shut part of the entire interstate down....but we get to downtown San Antonio around 1am an our exit is blocked off...so we just take the next one...no big deal, but once we get into the actual downtown part, there are TONS AND TONS of people, walking around, driving around..it was nuts...we got directions off of the internet and I basically know where we are going (I am usually the one who is better with directions) but all of the streets going towards where we need to go are completely blocked off...so we end up driving around for awhile..stopped and asked for directions from another hotel, and all we need to do is go up 3 blocks, but we can't get there because it is blocked....so we keep driving around and finally we find our way to the hotel at around 1:40...well it turns our they are having some huge festival and they just got done with a parade, which is why the roads were blocked off and so many people were still out....It was crazy, but so worth it... Our hotel was georgous!!!!! It really was amazing...but I told Vinny next time we go to a 4 star hotel, we aren't bringing the boys and we are going to spend more than 8 hours in the room.....It was fun though and worth it!!!

Then the next day we went to the River Walk and the Alamo. The boys seemed to really enjoy themselves at both places. Tucker was very interested in the Alamo because soldier used to live here and we kind of told him what happened there and he seemed to understand it a bit. He especially liked looking at all the old weapons and cannons. I think he really is going to love history! Then at the river walk, the boys were just loving it...they kept looking for fish and just had a really good time walking around (we didn't take the stroller and were a little worried about how they were going to take having to walk the entire time...but they did great!!) Then we stopped and at one of the Mexican Resturants. It was fun, our table was right on the river and the chips and salsa were pretty good, but the food was HORRIBLE...It was probally some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had.....it's pretty hard to make refried beans taste bad, but their's were....so we were still hungary and we went over to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and had some goodies, I had a Chocolate covered strawberry, we all shared Tucker's carmel apple, and Trey had a chocolate covered pretzel. It was a nice taste of home....when I was pregnant with Tucker I would get a carmel apple every time we went to the mall(but I would make Vinny eat most of the carmel off :-)

After we were done at the River walk we drove over to Vinny's parents house and hung out with Grandpa Tony (we were sad because Vinny's mom had to work). Vinny's dad cooked us a good dinner..(at least we had good Mexican food at his house :-). Then we drove home and the boys were passed out within 10 minutes of being in the car!!!

It was such a fun little adventure/mini vacation!!! Next time we are spending more time....I have a feeling we will be spending a lot more time in San Antonio these following months....it is one of my all time favorites place to visit!

Tucker's first tball game

This past weekend Tucker had his first tball game. He was so excited and he did a great job. Vinny was out in the field helping the team. I just love watching him play because he seems to really love it. Plus he just looks so darn cute in his little uniform!!!

The boys first MLB Game!

The other weekend we went with our friends to an Astro's game. It was the boys frist time to any type of professional sports game and Vinny and I haven't been to anything in quite sometime, so we all were very excited. It was so much fun. We all had a great time. We made it an authentic trip and had hot dogs, peanuts, cotton candy, and pretzels. We sat behind the bull pen and were only 22 rows up, which was pretty good seeing we only bought the tickets 2 day before the actual game. The boys want to go again, but I think next time we will go to a Dynamo game (the professional soccer team).

Easter 2009

We had a great Easter. The night before we colored easter eggs and the boys had a blast. They did it all by themselves and did a great job. Then on Easter morning we went to church and came home and had what I consider a traditional Easter breakfast. It is what my parents did for us and what I have and will continue to do forever....fresh fruit, muffins, bacon, and sausage....it's my favorite and I love it! Later on that day, my friend Crystal invited us over for dinner...it wasn't a traditional Easter dinner....we had Mexican food...and it was delicious....so it didn't bother me one bit it wasn't a ham like my mom always cooks. We let the kids hunt for Easter eggs, and then we had fun playing Scatagories and Farkel. It was such a good day and it was even better spending it with friends!!! So thanks Crystal, I don't think you really know how much it means to us.....

Vinny's new toy

Vinny loves to BBQ and he is pretty talented! We usually eat something he has grilled for 4 out of 5 dinners. We started out in our little apartment with one of those little George Foreman grills, then when we got married my parents got us a nice gas grill, then last year Vinny decided he wanted to try out a charcoal grill, so we used both for awhile, but the gas grill finally gives out and rusted through the bottom....So now he decides he wants to do something new..so I said he should just get one of those nice and fancy gas grills, but he said he has something else in mind...so he buys a smoker...not just any smoker, but a big ass one....it took 4 guys to get it into the back of his truck....He's really excited, but he still hasn't worked out exactly how to smoke things successfully.................but at least it gives him something new to try and I am excited to try all the new things he is going to make......

Trey's haircut

We have gotten Trey's haircut numerous times at the salon that cuts Vinny and Tucker's hair..he wasn't happy about it the first few times, but after those couple of times, he gets up in the chair like one of the big boys and gets his hair cut without a fuss, but this last time was not so good....he cried and would not even get in the chair...even though he's gotten his hair cut there at least 4 or 5 times this past year and Vinny and Tucker both just got done getting their hair cut......Trey really needed a haircut, so we ended up taking him to the kids haircutting place and man that place is expensive...it was almost double the cost of Vinny and Tucker's hair cut combined for just the one haircut...and it looks pretty much exactly the same quality of the place they usually go....I guess the only thing that made it worth it, was the cute picture I got of Trey......

Tball season has started!!!!

Tball season started last week and Tucker couldn't be more excited....he was supposed to have his first game this past Saturday, but the game was canceled due to rain...lots of rain....But he did great at the first practice. He ended up running the bases 3 times while the other kids only did them once or twice. He did great listening to the coach and he seemed to have a lot of fun with it. He can't wait for his first game and neither can we!! Trey really understands that it's Tucker's team and is just fine staying on the side watching or playing with either Vinny or I.

Flooded with Memories.....

So this morning when I walk outside to take Tucker to school....It felt like I was back home in Colorado....I'm serious..the way it felt outside...it was cool and crisp and even it smelt like Colorado....I swear if my eyes were closed I would have thought I was there. So since then I have been moping around here thinking of how much I really miss it.....we have been here 3 years already...3 years!!! I can't believe it has been that long..it seems to have gone by so fast and yet so slow......

It is always hard to be away from home, but especially now that the boys are getting older. My parents took us everywhere around Colorado and the surrounding states and I have so many AMAZING memories of our adventures I really want to share with the boys, but they are all 15+ hours away from us...so it seems like they are never going to see all the incredible places my parents to me and my brothers and my best friend :D I know we have a lot of years left to go see and do things, but at the rate time is flying already..it's going to go by too quick......

Now, I understand that we are making new memories and exploring new places, but I miss my mountains...with real camping, hiking, fishing, 4-wheel driving, and mountain biking...and I miss snow and having 4 defined seasons and being able to get them all in one week..and I miss leaves changing color, falling off and raking them in a big pile to jump in......most all though I miss my family and I HATE not having them close by...I miss having dinner with my parents most night of the week, even after Vinny and I were married...and getting together with everyone for every holiday because we love each other and really want to spend as much time together as possible.......

Don't even get me started on my other home...even though I've actually never resided in that state..it will always be my other home....Wisconsin.....I'm so happy we got to take the boys there and even though Tucker was only 2 he still remembers..milking cows and riding the tractor....having campfires and meeting his extended family.....I really hope we can go again very soon....man I love it there!!!

I wonder if I could ever love another place as much as I love my 2 homes.........I really don't think it is possible.....but we shall see I guess....life is about living and making the best out of every situation.......and most days I am very successful, but today that stupid de-ja-vu feeling of being in Colorado has me missing everything we left behind so intensely it hurts........

Soccer season is over :(

Well, today was Tucker's last soccer game...We are all sad about it, but he will be starting t-ball here pretty soon, so that's the only good thing. His team has come along way since the beginning of the season and Tucker has really improved too. About half way through the season, he finally realized which goal to score in and learned how to turn the ball around and head to the goal he is supposed to score in! He scored quite a few goals and he even played goalie a handful of times! He is a pretty good goalie too...he even dives for the ball! This past Wednesday we had a makeup game and the coaches couldn't make it, so I ended up coaching...and I really had a blast. I am definitely coaching next soccer season! Trey enjoyed watching his brother play, but by the end of the season he was definitely ready to play too.

We had a little soccer party at my favorite restaurant and Tucker got a trophy and a medal! It was a lot of fun. Tucker is such a good little athlete and there is nothing better than watching him play!!!
