Me and my Trey

Trey was invited to a little friend's birthday party this past week and he really wanted to go.  The little friend just happens to be a cute little girl and her mom works at the school with my mom and we were informed that she really wanted Trey to come and wanted to make sure Trey would come to the party, especially since the party was going to be held at Build a Bear.  Of course we made went and despite being the only boy (besides her older brother) and never actually being inside a Build a Bear workshop before Trey had a great time!  He picked out a pretty cool camo bear and it even smells like chocolate!  It was extra nice because it was just me and Trey a pretty special treat for both of us.  He loves that bear!

Wresting Tournaments 6 and 7

Wrestling is so stressful!!!  Watching it seriously stresses me out, but not because I'm worried Tucker will get hurt or not really even if he looses, but because Tucker is freaking out when he doesn't win and I don't know how much more I can take of him being so hard on himself.  I always tell him all (and what his coaches tell him too) we want him to do is wrestle hard, listen to your coaches, and never give up!  But Tucker is such a hard worker he can NOT stand to loose.  He wants to win (I mean who can blame him right....) and he does not handle loosing very well.

 

He is a really good wrestler (when he keeps his head right) and his coach decided it was time to move him up a division.  Well, little did we know he was moved from C class up to the highest class, A class.  Well, he was so nervous about the move up, but he still ended up taking 2nd place (which usually doesn't happen when a wrestler moves up 1 class, let alone 2 classes). 

 

Tournament 7 I didn't get any pictures because I have started recording them on my phone because there have been some problems with the people at the table taking score writing down the wrong names or wrong scores, so I want video proof just in case.  (I know it sounds a little crazy, but this happened to my nephew and the table scorer tried to give his 1st place win to another kid, but luckily the Ref remembered who won the matches.)  Anyways, Tucker took 2nd at this tournament too.  The match he lost was a really tough fight for him and I am proud of him for keeping himself together and fighting hard until the end.  (And blogger is still being dumb and not letting me upload any video...which sucks because I have a ton of Tucker wrestling!)

It's only been about 9 years....

On Superbowl Sunday I ran a 5k with my friend...it seriously has been about 9 years since I have ran in a race!  I have been running and working out at home a pretty decent amount for awhile now and my friend has been asking me to run in a race with her, but usually they are on Saturdays and Saturdays are always so dang busy...but this was a Sunday, so we did it!  We are actually pretty good running partners and for not seriously training for this we ended up running it in 30minutes and 52seconds.  Not too bad...it was a lot of fun and we can't wait for the next one!

On Superbowl Sunday Tucker got to celebrate his birthday with the rest of the family.  Thankfully the blackout gave us an oppertunity before the end of the game to have cake and open presents.

My first born turned 8 years old on Saturday!  He started the day taking 2nd place at a wrestling tournament and after that we headed to Casa Bonita....a pretty incredible restaurant.  Then we did a little shopping and then headed back home to eat pizza and cake.  The finally he got to open some presents!  His first day as an 8 year old was a pretty good one!

We have had such nice weather I had forgotten it is actually still winter.  We could not pass up the opportunity to play in the freshly fallen snow.

Wrestling tournaments 4 and 5

Tucker had a great fourth and fifth tournament.  In the fourth tournament, he did awesome!!!!  Pinned his opponent every time.  He got his very first 1st Place trophy this time and was super proud of himself! 
In the fifth tournament he had a tough first match, they were pretty evenly matched and it really could have gone either way.  (I would like to see a rematch...I know Tucker can beat him).  He got really down on himself, but he did eventually snap out of it and came back to win his next 2 matches and took 2nd place in the tournament.   Tucker has a hard time loosing..he is driven to win every time so when he looses he shuts down, but his coaches were super proud of him for coming back and giving 100% effort.

MLK Day

Everyone had off on MLK day so we took advantage of the nice weather and went hiking.  We went to a nature preserve south of town and took the 4 mile loop trail.  The kids did great despite such a long hike.  Ty wasn't feeling the best, but still managed to walk over half of it.  Towards the end of the hike he fell asleep while I was carrying him and slept the whole rest of the hike.  After the hike we went across the street to one of my favorite playgrounds.  It is set up like an old western town and the kids had fun, but it was short lived because Kim was pushing the kids on the merry-go-round and caught her ring on it and majorly messed up her finger.  It looked horrible, but after a very long trip to the ER, she found out it wasn't broken.  Thankfully it is healing fast and despite her finger, we had a great day off.

My reason for slacking off just a little...

This year I wanted to make sure I stayed on top of my blogging (well, actually stay more on top of everything in life and not be such a procrastinator...) and I'm actually doing pretty good.  Although my blogging has slowed down a little, but it is for a good reason.  Currently I am taking an online class for my early childhood education degree!  I've know forever now that I want to teach preschool, but I have been focusing on my boys.  Now that Ty is 3 and no more baby plans for us, I am finally ready to move on with my educational goals.  I am hoping to go full time when Fall semester starts because Ty will be in half day preschool, but I decided to get a jump on things and just start it now!  It is a little more involved for an intro class than I was expecting, but they cram a lot into this 2 year degree program, so I say bring it on!
