Ice Fishing

Vinny and my dad took the boys ice fishing last week.  They went to Monument Lake and the ice was over 8 inches thick.  They didn't have much luck, only 2 little Perch, but they did have fun and the weather was beautiful.

Summer 2013 -- Grand Adveture -- Illinois Paradise

My cousin invited us to stay the night at his house before we headed for home.  They own some property and it is absolutely gorgeous!!  We swam in their little pond, had a fish fry, then did some fishing, and enjoyed a campfire.  AMAZING!  John and Cindy are so hospitable and we wish would could have spent more time with them.

Swimming in their little pond.

Trey was hesitant to go out to the dock, but I finally got him out there.

Everyone enjoying the water...it was nice and warm!

We got out the boat and did a little fishing.

The first one Tucker caught.

My handsome little man.

Tucker was in fishing heaven!

Trey's first catch.

a day in the dirt...fishing edition

After we finished up 4-wheeling we decided to go fishing since one of the lakes was part way unfrozen. We didn't really catch much, but we had fun. I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked, but I ended up hurting my hand...It was a fun day though and we were all filthy by the end.

ICE FISHING!!!

On President's Day we journeyed up to a remote lake up in the mountains to go ice fishing! Everyone was so excited to try this out! Tucker used some of his birthday money and got a 'real' ice fishing pole. Trey talked a big game about getting on the ice, but once we got there he wouldn't go on...can you see him sitting on his chair, right at the edge of the ice...The majority of our crew is by the green tent, mom and Kim tried to talk him into coming, but he said no, so they left him there (I was at the car because Ty was sleeping...and Ty is not a child you want to wake up from a nap unless absolutely necessary).
Mr. Gerald making the whole...it was awesome, the ice was almost 2 feet thick!Nana Joyce had a talk with Trey and he came out with her on the ice and once he was out there he was having a blast..His favorite thing to do was to make sure the wholes didn't freeze back over by scooping ice out.All of the kids, except for Tucker, got bored with the fishing pretty fast..we anticipated this and brought sleds along with us, but despite the weatherman predicting a snow storm the night before our fishing trip which caused us to delay leaving by a few hours, there was hardly any new snow on the ground!! Instead Gramma started giving the kids rides around the frozen lake. And when she got tired Ms. Kim took a turn. And when she got tired Bella gave rides (I did not give rides because I was stuck carrying Ty around because he would go from loving being on the ice to hating it and he wasn't too found of the sled rides either...so I was exhausted from carrying his heavy butt everywhere)My dedicated little fisherman! You make your daddy proud Tucker! Poor guy didn't catch a fish, but he never gave up.Well, maybe the reason Ty wanted me to carry him is because it's hard to walk with 2 layers plus a snow suit and snow jacket and snow boots!Devin really wanted to go sledding, so we found the hill that had the most snow on it and he gave it a try! This last one is just one of the ice and part of the lake...it looked way cooler in person..
We ended up only catching 2 little rainbow trout...I somehow managed to not get a picture of them...But it was a lot of fun..it was cold, but not unbearable. We were all so worried about Ty stepping into one of the wholes, which he didn't, but Tucker was trying to kick ice into one and managed to step into one all the way to mid-shin, but it was right before we were leaving and because he had on snow pants, and snow boats, he was only a little wet. The big boys are still asking when we can go again...I had fun, but I think next time I will let Grampa and his big boys have an adventure of their own!

Fishing in January

The boys have been begging to go fishing and we had a 'warm' day so we took them to a local fishing spot. They were bummed because they didn't catch anything, but that was because they spent the majority of the time throwing rocks at the ice trying to break it. After alittle bit of the fishing we walked around the ponds checked out the ice and watched the geese.

FISHING

It's no secret that my boys love fishing. And lucky for us Colorado has a lot of places for us to fish. We went fishing a bunch this summer, but sadly we didn't have much luck...we barely caught anything, but finally towards the end of summer we went fishing and finally caught a ton of fish!! Fishing is always more fun when we catch something! We went with my nephew Devin and his family and my parents. Grampa was a good grampa and cleaned the fish and we ate it for dinner!!

Day at the Park

(I'm posting out of order again...but everything else I need to post I need to do on my other computer to resize and edit things, so oh well as long as I'm getting it done right.)

Since there wasn't much for us to do on Halloween day, we decided to take the boys to our favorite local park and have some fun! We started the day off fishing, it was a little slow. Trey caught the first one and then Tucker caught the next, then Trey caught one more. They were so little and there was a crane by us Vinny tossed 2 of the fish to the bird. Since fishing was so slow, they decided to call it quits, so we took some pictures.

Vinny brought along Tucker's bike, without training wheels on to practice riding big boy style! After about 10 minutes of practice, Tucker was really getting the hang of it. I took Trey and Ty to the park to play and Vinny kept practicing with Tucker and now he is a pro! He can even start and stop on his own! We are so proud of him and he is even more proud of himself!

Since Ty has gotten walking down cold, he has moved on to trying to climb on things. This was the first time we let him free on the playground. They had a smaller sized climber and he was all over it. Trey was a great big brother and even helped him go down the slide for the first time. Ty didn't 'love' it, but that could have been because Trey was holding on really tight, so not not drop him.

Tucker and Vinny finally made there way back to us and Trey got his turn to practice without training wheels. He did okay for a little bit, but he was still scared so he ended up crashing a couple of times. He said, "I still want the bike with the training wheels."

We had such a fun day and were all tired and thirsty, so we headed home to finish up on the rest of our Halloween prep.

Vinny's new toy!

For Vinny's birthday he got a fishing kayak! He thrilled about having one and found the perfect spot to take it out. He takes it out down on the coast, but goes in the "flats" the water is only about waist deep and pretty calm. Tucker really wants to go out with him, but Vinny needs to get the hang of everything first

Some of the fish he caught while fishing on his kayak!

A fishing they will go!

It is no secret that my men LOVE fishing...if they had it their way they would go fishing everyday. Yesterday Vinny decided to take the big boys fishing since Winter Fishing(down at the beach) is starting here, which is when you can catch all the good, big fish right from the shore. They left a little before lunch time and didn't get home until after 11pm. But their long day of fishing paid off big. They caught over 10 decent sized Croaker, a few cat fish, a bunch of little fish, a couple blue crabs, and 2 huge Red Drums. They all were stoaked on their "catch." We ate the crab last night and filleted up the Red Drums (we are going to grill one up tomorrow and save the other one for later).

Vinny's with his 2 Red Drum fish..they were so heavy.

One was 37 inches and the other was 40 inches(the level is 2 feet long) and man they were heavy!

Agh...look at those faces....
