SE Wyoming

The drive back from Yellowstone seemed like it took FOREVER!  So to break up the drive we stopped in southeast Wyoming to see some of the sights.  First we stopped at Ft. Laramie.  It was pretty cool.  I love old historic sites.  This place was cool because some of it was completely restored, some was being restored, and some was completely gone, but they showed where it used to be. Plus they had people dressed up like they did way back when.  The kids had a blast looking at everything and so did the adults.

After that we drove to the Oregon Trail ruts and walked around there.  It was a pretty cool site.  Those pioneers were pretty amazing to have faced all they did and make it to their destination.

 

The last stop was Register Cliff.  This is where people would stop to carve their name and date on the rock wall to let their family know they made it that far.  We saw some pretty old names on there.  Again it was awesome to see history first hand.

On the way home from Yellowstone we drove through the Grand Tetons.  Man they were beautiful!!  I had to share.

Yellowstone - Day 1

The first day of our Yellowstone Trip was spent driving mostly.  We were supposed to caravan with my nephew's family, but Eric is in the Air Force Reserve and he is trained to fight wildfires, so he had to finish up his week of fighting fires and then they met us up there the next day.  The drive was long, but I had a good book to read and my dad was driving, so it went pretty fast.  Once we got through one of the Yellowstone's gates, we still had about an hour drive to get area we were camping.  It was a fun drive with lots of neat things to see!

All those dead trees are from the fire that happened right before my first trip to Yellowstone when I was about 4.  I remembered a lot about that trip and the trees, which we all black...

Camping

We didn't get around to camping or doing much of anything outdoorsy this summer between the high temperatures and the crazy wildfires, but we did manage our annual Memorial day camping trip.  It was a new camping area for me, but my parents had camped there previously.  I loved the site and we had such a good time.  I'm extra glad we went there because it was in the area of one of the fires and it was pretty badly burnt.  Here's just a couple of pics from that trip.  

Our only other camping trip for this summer was AMAZING!!!!  We went to Yellowstone for a week and it was seriously one of the best camping trips I've ever had!  Because I took over 1000 pictures I have been working on the pictures and I've narrowed it down to about 450 that are keepers!  So now to narrow it down again for the blog is going to take some time...but it will definitely be worth it!!!  So check back soon for the Yellowstone post or maybe another completely random post if I still don't get the pics organized!

A summer of baseball

I think we spent most of our summer at the baseball fields. Between Tucker, Trey, and his cousins we could have watched up to 4 games on Saturday and that doesn't include the various practices and weeknight games.  I was assistant coach for Tucker's team and I co-coached Trey's team with the boy's Aunt.  Tucker was baseball crazy.  He played on his team, the Cubs went to a week long baseball camp, and also played on Trey's team, the Bruins, when they were short on players.  It's a good thing I love baseball and I love my boys because since summer was so hot we were roasting at pretty much all of the games!  It was fun though and I am so proud of my boys and their athletic ability!  Ty was loving watching all the baseball and he cannot wait until next year when he is old enough to play.
